Son says... I was wondering when you were going to get around to making some chili. Well I decided it was time to make some since winter is coming on.  When I grew up, my mother and grandmother used to make a chili like this. It really came from during the depression mentality. Things were tought back then. So they scrabbled things together to make a bigger batch with some more common ingredients. I suppose chili was the answer to this all across America. My mom made it with ground beef, canned tomatoes, elbow macaroni and some chili beans and we threw some hand crushed saltines into the bowl to soak the juice and extend it further. We make ours the same and supply a cup of oyster crakers on the side and throw a big handful of shredded cheddar cheese on top for 5.50 and for .50 more add in some fresh chopped sweet onion stirred in for some that like it that way.
